The degree show ball is rolling and it is up to us to keep it that way until the show's date (which escapes me right now). A handful of us had a meeting yesterday and this little youtube video here is an idea I had during said meeting: I like the cheesey "yay"
Thanks for reading! Have fun! I'm sorta making a video game... sorta. I needed to take a little break from doing work from my film so I threw together this test in a couple of hours last night: I animated the laser blast in Flash then did some heavy post on it in After Effects. Twas Brillig.
Have fun! I noticed that I hadn't posted in a while so I routed around my concept work and have decided to post an image of the creature which attacks Parvenza in my upcoming film.
I have been working on my animatic for the last few weeks so that is why there has been less stuff for me to update the blog with. When I've finished my animatic I might compile a little teaser trailer out of some of the shots from it. I don't want to put the whole thing up here because that would spoil it. Though I might post it secretly on some forums to get some feedback from people who don't know me. So if you can hunt down the places I post my animatic maybe you'll get to see it but I'm not posting it here. Hello world! I'm feeling fantastic today! I had the house to myself so I sang :D I also painted this in (as they say in France) "le photoshop": I also put a bit of noise, wear and tear on it. Just to see how it looked.
These guys headed up my pitch today. I feel my pitch went really well and I got lots of questions at the end which means my audience was at least slightly engaged! BOOM BABY! I was pretty nervous but soon got into it and the words started flowing out. I said everything that I wanted to say and got a few laughs (the good kind) along the way. All in all, pretty enjoyable!
Our class is pitching our projects to one another and the tutors on Monday so we've been hard at work creating art for that and putting it all together. This is proving really beneficial at this stage for me as I'm able to compile all my thoughts about my film in a cohesive manner. Trying to explain your film to someone else can be extremely difficult!
Here is an environment concept I've done for the pitch. I created a really basic interior of the lighthouse the brothers live in in Maya. This is going to be really useful for me at the storyboard and layout stage. Here it is: A break from my film today. A break from the human skeleton.
This is the first concept art for a game i'm developing with my friend Scott. He's coding it because I have no idea how to talk to computers. Our game is about a postman: I'm getting towards my first final concept of the brothers together. This sketch was made in SketchBook pro. I really need to get the hang of drawing straight into the computer for my film as I've decided to animate straight into Flash. I'm going to need all the practice I can get!
My friend Dane was struggling to design his main character for his short film that he is making. So we invited Jamie Iles over and had a creative drawing session with me and Sophie Lowden. It was really fantastic ouncing ideas off of one another. Dane joined in with the drawing and pulled sections out of our designs that he liked. The final design we had at the end of the evening was a colaboration between me and Jamie. Below are some sketches done during the evening:
